Tiny Modern Retreat

Bright siding and bright furnishings lift the retreat out of the woods without ever competing with them. The building is small on purpose: just enough enclosure to be comfortable, and no more than the landscape needs to carry.

A full sliding glass wall keeps the interior lit through the day and turns the darkness outside into the evening view. At night the retreat glows like a lantern; by morning the glass disappears entirely.

This is a house designed around a single ritual — waking with the dawn, coffee in hand, while the world outside comes to life: birdsong, insects, the trees moving with the breeze, and the scent of morning dew.
